About
Welcome to MOSKAR Street Food, nestled in the heart of Dubrovnik at Prijeko ul. 30A. This charming local eatery captures the essence of Croatian cuisine while offering an authentic dining experience that is hard to resist.
As a food reviewer, I've had the pleasure of exploring various corners of the culinary world, but MOSKAR stands out for both its inviting atmosphere and its dedication to quality. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with warmth and a friendly smile, ensuring you feel right at home in this bustling hub of gastronomic delights.
Customer reviews highlight a must-try feature: the black risotto, a dish that has earned rave reviews for its rich flavor and creamy texture—without any cream to hinder those with lactose intolerance. It's heartening to see that the staff is attentive to dietary needs, offering a delightful adaptation that allows everyone to savor this classic dish. Beatrice von Guggenberg captured this sentiment perfectly, expressing joy over the thoughtful service and delicious food.
Of course, the menu extends beyond risotto. The Beef Pašticada with Gnocchi and Grilled Eggplant have received recognition for their creativity and taste, although some guests have found the beef and dishes like the black risotto intriguing yet not the standout they expected. The Crème Caramel dessert adds a sweet finish to the meal, bringing satisfaction to those who crave a touch of sweetness after their savory courses.
Seafood lovers will also find a friend in MOSKAR. Andrew Kennedy's appreciation for the seabass and fish stew showcases the culinary team’s skill in crafting dishes that resonate with both locals and tourists alike. Likewise, Sean Eligon’s recount of a seafood sharing platter speaks volumes of the vibrant flavors found here, alongside the unforgettable beef stew gnocchi that he could not resist ordering twice.
While some have noted that the prices lean toward the higher side—typical for dining in Dubrovnik’s Old Town—the food quality justifies the cost, making each dish a worthy investment in your culinary journey. The atmosphere is alive and vibrant, and even when busy, the attentive staff manages to keep the experience enriching and enjoyable.
In summary, MOSKAR Street Food is more than just a pit stop for a meal; it’s a culinary experience where great food meets genuine hospitality. Whether you're indulging in the seafood offerings, savoring the hearty risotto, or enjoying the sweet finale of a Crème Caramel, you’re sure to leave with a satisfied palate and fond memories of Dubrovnik’s culinary scene.
“ Stumbled across this place for dinner, they managed to seat us despite us not having a reservation. We were eager to try a black risotto while in Dubrovnik but most places could only make it with cream, and we’re lactose intolerant. The waiter said they don’t make their risotto with cream anyways and they can just hold off on topping it with parmesan. This was music to our ears!! We ordered the risotto and some oysters. They kindly split the risotto between two dishes and it was so delicious and fun to eat. The oysters were good too. Excellent and kind service! One of the best meals during our time here. ”
“ This place is a local street side restaurant, which is known for their Croatian food. We had the Beef Pašticada with Gnocchi, the Black Risotto and the Grilled Eggplant. We had the Crème Caramel for dessert. The food was okay, we found the beef and risotto interesting. We liked the Grilled Eggplant and the Crème Caramel. The service and atmosphere was great. It was an experience to have dinner on the streets of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Slav who served us was very friendly and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed the dinner, but unfortunately we wouldn’t go back for the food. ”
“ Best meal we had in Dubrovnik by far. Seabass and fish stew were delicious and great portion sizes for starters and mains - service was fantastic despite the waitress being on her own and dealing with a full restaurant. Highly recommend going here even if it's busy - worth waiting for a table! ”
“ The portions are small and the prices are on the higher side—but that's pretty typical for restaurants in the old town. The food is good, though not noticeably better than what you’ll find elsewhere. I’m aware that restaurants in Croatia aren’t legally required to serve tap water, but when they choose not to, it often feels like the focus is purely on profit rather than hospitality. ”
“ Tucked away on one of Dubrovnik's tiny side streets in the Old Town, we happened across MOSKAR, and were warmly greeted and seated. We had probably one of the tastiest seafood sharing platters, so good, we ordered it twice. But the star of the show was the beef stew gnocchi. Oh my goodness. So good. This is a great spot for some delicious food. It's only small and gets busy quick. ”
“ This place is tiny yet amazing. Simple dishes done to perfection. So good I may have to go tomorrow too. I had the marinated anchovies, mussels, and eggplant with a lovely glass of Sauvignon. Service was attentive and I enjoyed every bite!! Went back the next night for their truffle gnocchi and it was so fluffy with a beautiful sauce. Seriously go here!! ”
“ Came here during lunchtime and it was along a quiet steer that wasn’t very crowded, we didn’t even need to wait for a table though we didn’t reserve one. We were seated along the street which was a nice environment and a great respite from the heat. I personally ordered the black risotto following the recommendations here and paired it with a local white wine and it didn’t disappoint. Cuttlefish was fresh and the risotto was flavourful. The paired white wine was light and delicious as well. My family also ordered the Gnocchi and the pork skewers and the meat was a little tough but the seasoning was still pretty good. Lastly, the wait staff was also patient and friendly with us as tourists who aren’t familiar with the food and is willing to listen and recommend dishes :) ”
“ Fantastic, is my best summary. Great service, great tasting food. I had the tuna tartare as a starter, amazing taste and good to start with something served cold. As a main I had the Macaroni (Dubrovnik style) with beef, again with amazing taste. I also had two local beers, both really good. Overall a fantastic lunch which I would highly recommend. ”
